ATQLD Chairman Retires after 12 years of service
Tuesday, 23rd November 2021

After 12 years as Director and Chairman of the Apprentices and Trainees Board, Peter Corones retires. Peter advised he would not nominate as Chairman or Director following the Annual General Meeting.
The decision has been tough for Peter as he is passionate about providing opportunities for people to upskill via apprenticeships or traineeships. But ultimately, Peter contends if he can not give 100% to a role, he will not take it on.

Peter was nominated as a Director in 2009 and soon became Chairman. While there have been challenges along the way, the business is in a considered, steadfast, growth phase for the future.
This stability is a combination of Board Governance and Managements operation of the business. Under Peter exacting stewardship, the business has successfully navigated the most unprecedented period in memory caused by Covid-19.
Despite these challenges, the business has continued to increase the apprentices and trainees we employ and host to businesses in the region.

Fellow Director Tina Zawila (on behalf of the board) thanked Peter for his contribution to Apprentices and Trainees Queensland over many years.
Tina admired Peter’s leadership and tenacity as not only Chairman but as a mentor and role model.

CEO Michael Walz also thanked Peter for his contribution to the business. Michael said he has enjoyed working with Peter to implement the Board strategic plan of increasing the employment of apprentices and trainees in Central Queensland.

Peter thanked the Board of Directors Tina Zawila, Mike Galt, Bill Macdonald, Peter Masters, Pauline Kelly, Kahn Goodluck and incoming Chairman Dave Grenfell for their positive, supportive, working nature to continue the groups 36-year history of employing, training and upskilling the community for future generations.
