School Based Apprenticeship/ Traineeship Programs
Did you know ATQLD developed the original School-Based Apprenticeship program? In 1997, 12 Year 11 students commenced Boiler making Apprenticeships under a School-Based scheme. This program is now delivered across Australia and a very proud accomplishment in ATQLD’s history.
Students, particularly in years 10, 11 and 12, are able to participate in school-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships which allows the student to study for their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE), whilst working and training towards a recognised qualification.
While being hosted out to Orica I’ve enjoyed the positive culture and work environment during my apprenticeship. This helped me gain a wide range of skills and exposure in my E&I trade. ATQLD has helped mentor me through my apprenticeship having their support and guidance.

Orica

I’ve enjoyed working on a wide variety of structures and crews over the duration of my apprenticeship with Walz. I was able to obtain extra training and was well supported in my personal development during this time. I would like to thank my family and friends, Walz, ATQLD and many others that helped me over the past 4 years of my apprenticeship.

Walz
